TITLE: The Warren COUNTRY: England RENDERER USED: POV-Ray 3.5 TOOLS USED: Poser 3, 3DS2POV, TMPGEnc RENDER TIME: 30 hours HARDWARE USED: AMD Duron 1.1GHz 1GB RAM ANIMATION DESCRIPTION: This owes its existence to a free copy of Poser 3 from a magazine cover CD. A hedge maze seemed like a good setting because all you see are hedges, so once you have a hedge model most of the modelling is done. Having a hopping-rabbit conveniently avoids the leg movment that would be needed for other traditional hedge animals. Violent trimming is the only way to quickly win a battle with a hedge, so the appearance of some sort of power gardening tool was essential. What does the ending mean? I wanted a quick ending which avoided a repeat of the coming round and standing up sequence, so this time round it was the rabbit's turn to escape. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS ANIMATION WAS CREATED: The figure is the Poser 3 Casual Man, included in the POV-Ray scene files using 3DS2POV written by Steve Anger and Jeff Bowermaster. The animation of the figure in most scenes is done pose-to-pose with Poser's keyframe animation system. The running and falling motion is done by a routine which takes run cycles developed in previous IRTC entries and writes them out as bvh motion capture files which can be imported into Poser. The rabbit, hedges, hedge clippings and the cliff-face are all isosurfaces. All frames were rendered at 320x240 with anti-aliasing and TMPGEnc was used to make the mpg.
