This is very well proportioned (most constructed plaens aren't). Try doing a 
bit more in the background like some VistaPro mountains or height fields
coming out of the clouds. Or even better, burning cities below!

I'm an aviation enthusiast, so that's just one more reason I like your rendering
of the P-51. The only category I hit it heavily on was originality, but not for
lack of effort or artistic ability.

This rendering reminds me of a professionally hand drawn image. As for

The aircraft is certainly nice, and I think the maps have worked well. But 
the background is very err.. unrealistic. I mean when was grass that colour?

I think using a backgroun image (as opposed to a background scene in 3D) has

I gather from your description that this was more 2D work than 3D. A remarkable
result nevertheless. The P-51 needs to be much sharper in contrast to the 
background to make it stand out more. Where's the propeller?

good image but too much was drawn in a paint program.  just about all the pieces
of your image could have been rendered instead of drawn. also, planes are not
very original

sparse.
