===== From castlewrks@aol.com: Too much light... make the lights in the scene the only lights and render it that way... ===== From agage@mines.edu: Very nice modelling. Very intricate. ===== From jaime@ctav.es: Very nice ambient and composition. The most visible point, you know, is the snow : it's too bright. Also the smoke columns are not really convincent for what I expect from a train. But I like the overall scene, very artistic and peaceful... ===== From Martin.Magnusson.7121@student.uu.se: Good modelling. I like the orange light. ===== From jjanger@mail.cspp.edu: Simply an amazing amount of work and research with a painstaking attention to detail. Quite an achievement. ===== From rbjorn@algonet.se: Why didnīt you tell your life story too... ===== From kefriber@online.no: You really got some work done here,,,,I mean did you REALLY use only 2 months to finish this one off ?? Anyways; I loved this image - it is sharp - have lots of detail - and still you've managed to make it a 'night' scene - really good work. Loved the way you've fixed the snow !!! (if there is something I don't like as much as the rest it got to be the steam,, it looks somewhat weird) ===== From tpeters@eagle.cc.ukans.edu: VERY Very Cool! ===== From dormammu@erols.com: Very nice picture. Best I've seen so far.. plus, you have the longest TXT file I've ever seen :> ===== From bill@apocalypse.org: good attention to detail on the engines. The steam and clouds in the sky seem a little flat in comparison though. ===== From karl@pemail.net: Probably the longest and most indepth explaination of an image I've ever seen ! ===== From ice@teanow4pm.demon.co.uk: Imported image maps must be big to avoid jaggies, I agree, but for me it is more important whether an image can be converted to a print. Bearing in mind that your rendering time is only a technical issue and not a practical one, there are fewer rough edges at a signifcantly higher resolution. Otherwise, rather a decent picture. Very original, very original, as they continue to say. 8 ===== From ethelm@bigfoot.com: Excellent image. The accuracy of the detail could be commented on only by a fanatical steam train enthusiast. The steam is probably as would be recorded on slow film, however, we feel that a more fluffy steam would have looked better. ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: Your best image ever! This is a real winner. Full of realism and attention to accurate detail. Great lighting. A study in temperature contrasts: cold moonlit sky, snow, and steel; hot fire, steam, and lights. The snow is an essential element in the scene -- much contrast would be lost without it. Even the text file is a fascinating read. (I liked the comment about exposure time!) With all the explanations of period detail, I'm surprised you didn't describe the rack object in the foreground. Two flaws: "758" lettering seems abnormally bright, and the steam looks too streaky vertically. Great job! ===== From djconnel@flash.net: Nicely modelled!!! Very minor detail -- with all the midnight activity, why is snow covering the tracks? The sky can use some work -- I am not sure the lighting there is correct. But these are small details -- the scene is brilliantly done!!! ===== From no13@ozemail.com.au: This is a realy nice image. However even with the the steep fade distance for the light sources the ground appears to be too light. ===== From cfusner@enter.net: Your knowledge of photography and the history of the railroad are superb, and made for an intriguing interpretation on the theme. ===== From econoltd@thezone.net: Nice sharp quality to the scene and good attention to detail. ===== From r@client876c.globalnet.co.uk: Notable for modelling ===== From r@client836b.globalnet.co.uk: Notable for modelling ===== From r@dial-up30.webbernet.net: Well done. Chosen level of realism is sustained through the image. Needs some sign of life. Tracks, a person, some tools monmentarily laid aside, a human profile in the cab, etc. Clouds are too bright and smoke is a bit too straight and regular. Otherwise, very good.
