Seen from some distance you get the impression of an oil painting.
But I would change the texture/strucutre of the sky....

From bobfranke@halcyon.com:
2 1/2 days, really? Try experimenting with some of the
sky pigments included with POV.

From rbenjam2@tampabay.rr.com:
Overall I really like the image but I think it needs something on the left hand
side to balance the lighthouse. The image seems to lean a bit to the right.

Water looks very strange.

From sammy@cube.net:
Lighthouse ...
Anyway, the impressionistic look was a good idea, but it doesn't work well...
the water looks like oil.

From tglover@nettally.com:
Good lighthouse! Move it towards the middle about 1/4 of picture-width.
Water is AOK -- funky reflections of ??? in it are really not appealing.
Sky is good. Rock under lighthouseis good. Foam on the waves? Maybe?

=====
From Alain.Culos@bigfoot.com:
The water certainly looks impressionistic.
It does not look like real water but I think the effect you wanted to created
is
pretty successful.

From gmccarter@hotmail.com:
Interesting composition with the lighthouse being almost completely off the edge
of the scene.

=====
From mark.wagner17@gte.net:
Try placing the lighthouse somewhat closer to the center
of the image. As things are, it looks like an image of the
ocean.

From martialrameaux@multimania.com:
Well it's a veritable nice image !
Good idea to use heighfields

From clem@dhol.com:
Nice use of color. Water is quite good, if a bit glassy.
Lighthouse may be a bit too understated for the theme.

From mar@physics.usyd.edu.au:
At first glance I was going to mark this down technically, but after seeing
you were going for an impressionistic feeling, I have to congratulate you on
achieving that effect. The nearby waves are a little "glassy", but the middle
distance and horizon have a wonderful painted feel, as does the sky. I really
hope nobody else marks you down for "unrealism" because I think this is a real
winner from the artistic point of view, and very well executed technically.

This one grows on me every time I look back at it :-) . I like it better now
than the first time I saw it.
