Your ruins don't look particularly ruined, as the CSG differences you
applied only do pretty clean slices. Some stones on the ground and 
perhaps other features to enrich the grass plain would've added to the
scene. The people are a good touch, but the image needs more of it. 

The idea of using the same basic setting for the entire year is 
interesting, I hope you'll succeed!

The figures are nice.  Different textures on the ground 
and castle walls might help the realism of the scene a 
lot, though... right now they seem to look more like 
cardboard cutouts than real objects.

This will be an interesting image as the year progresses.  This scene needs a
lot
of work on the textures and lighting.  It looks like a test scene just to get
the 
sizes of objects right, not a finished work.   I'll look forward to seeing
later
versions of the village as it grows.
