very nice idea :)

Great wood texture, and the lighting works really well. The scene seems a little
bare - maybe an ongoing battle (or perhaps the 'killer' piece) in the distance
would bring a bit more action to the scene?

Would have been better if you created a pool of blood rather than a stain

Clever! So simple, but so much significance assigned to one object.

This is my favourite image artistically. A very strong composition and lovely
use of colour / DOF.
Technically obviously not too difficult.
Score quite high on concept. Very original.

A relatively simple scene, but IMHO the simplicity of the scene adds to the
theme of your image by focusing exclusively on the slain pawn. I also like
your choice of colours (light blue instead of black) as this makes the red
stand out.

This piece truly stands out for it's originality among the other "chess" themes.
Kudos for outstanding art. I really enjoyed this one.

I like the nuance of this image. One pawn, alone, helpless. The helplessness is
felt through the colors...very cold. Very nice.

From lrwii@joplin.com:
Very good! The blood where it runs from the pawn to the
board could be a little better.

From StephenF@whoever.com:
Simple but surprisingly effective. The shaping of the
pawn along with the woodgrain looks nice. I can't help
wondering if it would work to show an opposing piece
retreating into the distance, to help establish the
concept a little more. Still, I like this one a lot!

Brilliant. Tiny details such as the flaw on the base of the pawn show the
care you took in creating this image. Excellent colors, focus, lighting.
The result is just perfect.

Excellent work !

The overall purple hue is a bit much but I marked this very high. A very
effective visual play.

Wow. That's beautiful. A very accurate comment on the nature of war.

The only thing I don't entirely like is the board, which I initially
mistook for bathroom tiles due to the colors.

From delfeld@mailcity.com:
Pawns bleed? I guess I had better be more careful when I play. Good symbolism
and imagery, though the theme (not the representation of the topic) is a little
sparse.

I really like this I feel it's simple in design but gets straight to the point,
well done :o)
Notable for originality
