This image needs some spicing up, such as more details. Also you need to improve your anti-aliasing. There are quite a few artifacts. Keep practicing, you'll get there.

Interesting color contrast.

Well, it's a good start to an image. This looks like a template for a =
real scene -- now it's time to add the real textures and models to =
complete the setup.
I think it conveys "fear" better than either "sadness" or "lonliness".

I agree with you're decision to keep the wide angle shot.
The feel of the image produced by the other elements is
more than a detailed facial expression could have
provided. It looks to me as if the "light" coming in from
the door is made of cylinders, so I would suggest
creating an actual slit, and then a bare room. As for the
room being too empty, my suggest would be to add some
objects (boxes, or a chair) placed just in front of the
door (to add to the idea of hiding/no wanting to be
found).

The camera angle works well here, and the purple thing
is kind of cute. Different textures on walls and floor
would help the scene, I think. (Why does the door have
the same texture as the walls?) It's hard to tell there is
a mirror rather than a hole in the wall between two
rooms... a simple frame around the mirror might make it
more obvious.
